This work was composed shortly after the composer conducted Jürg Dähler and the Musikkollegium Winterthur in the world premiere of his Viola Concerto Cantabile in January 2021. Whole passages from Cantabile have been wrenched out of their original context and restructured, with songlike passages being constantly interrupted by virtuoso sections. The result is a colourful mosaic that allows the original motives to appear in a new light.
